ACA Corona Information

Dear Parents and Guardians:

On Friday we sent home a printed letter with materials for your child in the event we had to close. We emailed that same letter earlier today to ensure everyone received a copy. Over the weekend The Williamsville Central School District (WCSD) posted that it will close until April 20, 2020. As a result, Amherst Christian Academy (ACA) will be closed as well. Below describes how we can function together to help our children for this week. On Friday, March 20th, ACA staff will finalize long term plans for supporting students.

Your child’s teacher will contact you daily via the Dojo app, email, text or phone call. Please let them know your preferred method of communication. The purpose of that call will be to confirm your child has all their study materials, and to answer any questions you might have.

If your child has left any study materials at school the school ACA will be open Tuesday, March 17th, and Wednesday, March 18th, from 8:00 – 3:00 pm, so you may pick it up. There will be limited staff at school, but we will be there to help you find your child’s books. We would prefer you come by Tuesday, but I will be there Wednesday if necessary.

Nursery:

Julia Smolinski is the lead teacher, and she will contact you daily. You may communicate with her through Dojo, email, text or phone. Her cell is: (716) 550-2202.

Pre-kindergarten and Kindergarten:

Kelly Merkel is the lead teacher. You may communicate with her through Dojo, email, or text. Phone calls will be difficult as she has young children at home. Her email is: kellyjomerkel@gmail.comand her cell is: (716) 998-1292. Parents are to use the packet sent home on Friday to practice reading skills and review counting. A digital copy of the packet is in your email so you may access the hyperlinks included. Parents in Mrs. Merkel’s class may also sign up for Reading A to Z for free for 90 days. More instructions on Reading A to Z will follow before the end of the week.

1st – 3rd:

Liz Eggert is the lead teacher. You may communicate with her through Dojo, email, text or phone. Her cell phone number is: (716) 735-7243 and her email is: eaeggert25@gmail.com. Fourth through twelfth students should complete assignments as instructed in the packet that was sent home on Friday. Students will not have the ability to make corrections and should complete their work carefully. If you need math or science support, and your lead teacher is not available, please call me at work: (716) 689-9944. My cell phone number is: (716) 529-9262.

If a fourth through twelfth grade student finishes a PACE booklet, they may take a Self-Test at home. When complete, please take a photo of the test and send it to your child’s teacher to score it. Your child’s teacher will follow up with you to give instructions on when to pick up your child’s PACE Test (their final test for each booklet) and their next PACE booklet.

On Friday, essential ACA staff will finalize long term plans for supporting students. At that time, we will email the results of that meeting. In the meantime, please pray for the safety of one another, and our school community. We look forward to the next time we can meet together and encourage one another in person.

Sincerely,

Michael Cabán
