Corvid-19 Closing Update

Dear Parents and Guardians:

As we finish our first week away from school, we would like to update you with information and materials for your child while at home. We will provide another update on Friday, March 27, 2020, a week from today.

On Friday, March 20, 2020, Governor Cuomo required all non-essential business employees to stay home. As a result, the school and nursery program will remain closed this coming week, and our teachers have materials for your children we would like you to pick up. You may pick up those materials on Monday, March 23, 2020 between 8:00 am and 3:00 pm. If you are unable to come to the school, please call me at (716) 529-9262.

For children in Pre-Kindergarten through fourth grade, Mrs. Merkel and Mrs. Eggert have each prepared a second packet of material. This second packet will pick up where the first packet left off and provide at least an additional two weeks of lessons. Your child’s teacher will continue to contact you daily through the Dojo app, email, text or phone to support you.

Fourth through twelfth grade students should pick up PACE materials and tests. This will ensure students can continue their work at home without interruption. Students will not have the ability to make corrections and should complete their work carefully. When a student finishes a PACE booklet, they may take a Self-Test and then the PACE test at home. When the test is complete, please take a photo of the test and send it to your child’s teacher to score it. Then proceed to the next test or PACE booklet. You can help your child prepare for a test by reviewing material together. While reviewing, please notice the dialogue boxes in the PACE that provide detailed instructions. In addition, Word Building PACE tests have fewer spelling questions than the Self-Test. We advise you to use either the even or odd numbered spelling words from the Self-Test as spelling words on the PACE test. Your child’s teacher will continue to contact you daily through the Dojo app, e-mail, text or phone to support you. If you need math or science support, and your lead teacher is not available, my cell phone number is: (716) 529-9262.

We ask that you continue to pray for the safety of one another, our school community and our nation. We look forward to the next time we can meet and encourage one another in person.
