SUMMER READING

In order to encourage the academic growth of our students at Amherst Christian Academy students are asked to complete the following reading assignment during their summer break.  The detailed reading list can be found by clicking the button below.  The assignments vary based on grade level.

                                                                                                                      

Grades 1 to 4:

Students in grades 1 through 4 are asked to read six books from the portion of the list that matches their grade level or higher, be prepared to describe what the story is about to their class, and have a parent or guardian sign the summer reading list form, see below.  Students that submit their summer reading list form and share about one book by the first Friday of school will be invited on a visit to the Buffalo Zoo.

 

Grades 5 to 8:

Students in grades 5th through 8th are asked to read five books from the portion of the list that matches their grade level or higher, complete a one-page book report on one of the books read, and have a parent or guardian sign the summer reading list form, see below.  The report is to be hand written, single spaced and include a heading and title.  The heading will include the student’s name, date the report was written, and their grade level.  The title will include the title of the book read.  The report will include a summary of the story.  Students that submit their book report and the summer reading list form by the first Friday of school will be invited on a visit to theBuffalo Zoo.

 

Grades 9 to 12:

Students in grades 9 through 12 are asked to read four books from the portion of the list that matches their grade level or higher, complete a one page book report on one of the books read, and have a parent or guardian sign the summer reading list form, see below.  The report is to be hand written, single spaced, include a heading and title.  The heading will include the student’s name, date the report was written, and their grade level.  The title will include the title of the book read.  The report will include a description of the moral of the story and at least two examples of evidence supporting the proposed moral.  Students that submit their book report and the summer reading list form by the first Friday of school will be invited to visit the Buffalo Zoo.
